Winston "Wee Pow" Powell, aka Father Pow, was born in the district of Mizpahwalderton, in Manchester, Jamaica. However, he grew up in the Molynes Road section of Kingston. He is the eldest boy of two brothers and sisters, unfortunately both his parents are now deceased. Wee Pow attended Mizpah Primary School, and then went on to graduate from Tarrant Secondary School. Afterwards, he enrolled at the College Of Arts Science And Technology (CAST) where he studied electrical engineering. While in school, he played cricket.

Father Pow, owner of the international sound system,Stone Love says that music was an inborn concept, and he always loved it. Not to mention, he grew up in an area that constantly held dances and enhanced his love for music.

Prior to entering into the music business professionally, Father Pow was an electrical engineer. He met Rory when he used to play at the Bamboo Lounge on Constant Spring Road with another sound system. So impressed with Wee Pow's style, Rory left his sound to join him. On the other hand Wee Pow knew Cancer for many years. Cancer also used to play another sound system, however , that sound didn't realize Cancer's worth and got rid of him. Wee Pow saw his potential and immediately brought him on board with Stone Love.

In the old days, Stone Love used to play a variety of music. Today, their music is more towards a dancehall trend. Of course the sound was much smaller, but now its a huge machine with more amps and speakers........

Like anyone else Stone Love has encountered obstacles along the way to their success. According to Father Pow, the worst thing that can happen to a sound, is when the promoter does not pay following a show. Another major problem that a sound faces is when a politician wants to control their set and they want to stop you from playing from short notice, states Wee Pow. He further states that a good night is when you have a good turn out, you played good music, everybody had a good time and you get paid.

While Wee Pow states he cannot look into a crystal ball to see the future, he expects that Stone Love will continue to do their best. "It's just hard work for Stone Love, he states. Wee Pow does expect to scale down his activities, however, he expects to concentrate on the production end of things. For those of you who are not aware, Stone Love has a record label, and has produced numerous artists.

Although Stone Love is 23 years old, they collected their first trophy in 1995 from Mr Binns. They have not stopped winning since. In 1995, Mr Binns gave Stone Love the immortal award. Wee Pow wonders if Mr Binns is trying to retire them. Subsequently most sounds today uses the Stone Love format. According to Wee Pow, "We rule the Dancehall, until someone comes up with another format completely different from ours, til then Stone Love rules and will continue to rule". Recently Stone Love made history by being the first sound system to be signed to a record label, when they signed to November Records. When asked what's your favourite thing outside of music ? Father Pow states "more music".
