Delly Ranks

Music is synonymous with instrument and players, singers and deejays. There is one exceptional artist of tremendous talent, class and quality who has been burning up the charts. He is hot like ten big balls of fire, and is known as Delly Ranks.

Twenty Two year old Delroy Foster, aka Delly Ranks started his career at an early age when he had entered and won a DJ contest in Southside, Central Kingston. He attended the Excelsior High School and was always looked up to as the school's number one entertainer, and performed at most school functions.

Upon graduating, he recorded his first song entitled 'Never Dun' on the Wild Geese label but this didnt make the imprtession he wanted so he continued to work at putting out a record that would create a big impact in the dancehall.

In 1993 he recorded 'Soundboy General' in combination with Ninja Teeth and this helped boost his career with strength with such tunes as 'Gal Nuh More Than Yuh', 'Holiday Come Again', 'Model Pon Yuh Matey' and 'Passion Style' a new single creating waves as a girls anthem.

He went on to record the well kown song 'Sentinel' which took the dancehall by storm, it was a smash hit and it brougt more success for Delly Ranks. It was this hit song that propelled the artist to niche a place for himself in the top echelon of the dancehall fraternity.

Delly ranks was one of the artists who voiced on the 'Remember The Days' recording collaboration with Bushman, Daddy Screw, Sharon Foster and Ten Percent, all from Studio 2000. He later did a combination with Daddy Screw on teh Cell Block label entitled 'Little More' and also another single called 'All Type A Woman Fi Get Loving' on the Time One label.

His hit tune 'Hotty Hotty' is still mashing up the dancehall especially when the special is done on the jazz rhythm. Delly Ranks has toured the US, Bahamas and Bermuda and has shared centre stage with the likes of Sanchez, Lady Saw, Merciless, Beenie Man Spragga Benz and others. He has delivered himself well and earned the respect of fans wherever he performed.
